On 15th September 2009, at 10:30am a meeting was held between MNCCI and Tianjin Chamber of Commerce for the purpose of signing a MOU. Mr. Zhao Xue Ming, Chairman of China Chamber of International Commerce, Tianjin Chamber of Commerce and Ms. Zhang Shuang, the Director of Department of International Relations met with the top management of MNCCI.
The new executive board of MNCCI met with the President Mr. Mohamed Nasheed. The meeting was held on 14th September 2009 at 10:30am in the President’s Office. Discussions were focused on the economic crisis faced by the Maldivian economy and how the MNCCI could assist the government on these matters.
A ceremony was held on 10th September 2009, at Male’ Jail, to give away the donations by MNCCI. Sport shoes, jerseys, t-shirts, sweaters, shorts and footballs were included in the donation offered by Sonee Sports. Silent Voice, DPRS officials, Prisoners of Male’ Jail and MNCCI top management participated in the ceremony.
MNCCI Executive Board Members; Mr. Abdullah Javid, Mr. Ismail Asif, Mr. Ahmed Adheeb, Mr. Mohamed Nazeer, Mr. Ahmed Amir, Mr. Ahmed Nizam and Mr. Thoha met with the Minister of Economic Development; Mr. Mohamed Rasheed in a meeting held on 1st September 2009, at 1430hrs.
Members from MNCCI, Mr. Hamid Ismail (President), Mr. Ismail Asif ( 2nd Vice President) Mr. Ahmed Adheeb (Treasurer) and Mr. Mohamed Nazeer (Executive Board Member) has today met with Mr. Peter Linford ( Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner – South Asia) and Mr. Shameel Javadh (Business Development Manager) of the Australian Trade Commission. The previous Minister of Trade also joined the meeting.
Turkish Investors from the WLF Enternasyonel Danismanlik Organization A.S visited the MNCCI to explore the investment opportunities available for foreigners in the Maldives. The members of the WLF Enternasyonel Organization who visited MNCCI include Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer who met with the Vice President of MNCCI and the Administrator.
Night Market 2009 will be inaugurated by Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Rasheed, Under Secretary of President’s Office. It is the biggest annual event in Maldives, and for the first time in Night Market history, fireworks show is organized in coordination with MNDF at the opening ceremony to make it more colorful.
A high level Trade and Investment Delegation from Pakistan, led by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), visited the Maldives on 20th July to 23rd July 2009. The Delegation consisted of sixteen big Exporters and Investors Companies of Pakistan.
A meeting was held between the Ministry of Economic Development and the “Hilaveli” Committee. The discussion was focused on how to make “Hilaveli” available for the community at a cheap price.
